When Lisa Jordan wrote us about her experience with MYOB, we knew we had to share her story. Lisa and her husband Ken own and operate Accent American, Inc., a carpet cleaning business. The thirty-some jobs a week they take care of range from odor and stain removal to crime-scene cleanup, which Lisa describes as "intense."

The Jordans run an intimate, personal business that has grown for the past seventeen years. Together they handle about four to six jobs a day, six days a week, working out of their home. "Some of our customers came to our wedding 12 years ago. That's why we want to not let it get too big, to keep it personal," Lisa says. Working from home is the thing she enjoys most about her business, but also, "I enjoy our customers. We know them by name," Lisa says.

Results Achieved with MYOB

Lisa was a waitress at a hotel restaurant when she first found MYOB in 1991. Ken had an accident that kept him sidelined for awhile, so she picked up extra hours in the hotel's front office. She was able to teach herself the software almost immediately. "I just sat down and figured it out myself. That's what I love about the program. It's so easy to get used to," says Lisa. She used MYOB as she rose through the ranks of the hotel. Working first for the Food and Beverage Manager, then the General Manager, Lisa made her way to assisting the vice president of her hotel.

Bringing MYOB from her hotel gig to Accent American created some definite changes for Lisa and Ken's business. "It made life easier," she says. "After the first full year using MYOB, we were able to really look at our expenses and sales revenue and make projections for the coming year."

MYOB made the Jordan's accountant have a much easier time, too. "Our CPA was so impressed. He had previously prepared our taxes using cancelled checks and sales invoice copies. Now, he loves when we bring him the end of the year reports. It's so much more organized and easier for him. It saves us money on his fee, too."

Lisa says she is a "more than satisfied MYOB customer." Other companies have tried to get her to switch but she "won't even look at their products." MYOB has everything she ever wanted and more.
